WWF, the Bund fuer Naturschutz and Landesverbund fuer Vogelschutz in Bavaria and other partners have been working for years, even decades to protect and conserve the Danube as a living river. In past years, we have played a key role in local campaigns to prevent destruction of the river, e.g. at Hainburg in Austria, or between Straubing and Vilshofen in Germany. We have also engaged with decision makers and key stakeholders from local to national and EU levels to identify and promote long-term solutions for protecting the living river and developing local livelihoods.

Bund Naturschutz in Bayern e.V. (Bavarian Union for Nature Conservation). To preserve Bavaria’s beauty, "Bund Naturschutz,“ has several on-going projects regarding nature and environmental protection. BN was the first to initiate protests when the project Straubing-Vilshofen threatened unique areas, and they are still fighting for the Danube. http://www.bund-naturschutz.de
